Decks

Decks and outdoor living spaces are a great investment in California for enhancing both your enjoyment and the resale value of your house. The deck that looks terrific on the day it was first installed needs consistent care and maintenance to remain looking that way. HDR Remodeling can help maintain your deck in good condition for years to come.

Power Spraying

Power spraying is an effective way to clean decks but will not eliminate all stains, especially those related to grease or other oil-based substances. We will move the portable furniture for the deck cleaning. We will usually power spray the deck using water from the property and a deck-cleaning product. We will remove the debris between the boards and will lightly spray under the deck in those areas where we have headroom of at least 48." . We ask that the customer be at home to carefully check around doors and windows while this spraying is going on to ensure that no water gets into the house. We are not responsible for damage resulting from water intrusion that is beyond our control. Decks should be cleaned lightly every year and thoroughly every 2-3 years.

Deck Staining and Sealing

After allowing the deck to dry for at least three dry days we will apply the stain or sealant. We recommend the application of semi-transparent stains with a little color. We will be happy to discuss your options with you. If you do not know what finish you already have on your deck, check to see if water beads on your deck. If it does, you may have a sealer instead of stain on your deck. We cannot remove sealers. Unfortunately, we can only apply a sealer (not stain) on top of a deck that has been previously sealed. Unless otherwise noted our quote for staining or sealing includes only the walk-able deck boards. If you have dogs, you may have to treat your deck more often. If you have small children playing on the deck, you may also want to treat the deck more often to minimize the danger of splinters.

Additional Services

For an additional charge, we can clean and stain railings, stairs, and benches, pound down nails, lightly sand splintered boards or replace some of the boards.
