There is never enough closet space in the older homes in Berkeley and Oakland. The client asked if we could install closets on either side of the fireplace and make it look like they always there.
We removed and saved the crown molding and baseboards for reuse as they were no longer available and would have to be specially made.
We framed in the new closets and trimmed the mantle just a little still allowing enough clearance to meet fire codes for the fireplace.
We installed lighting inside the closet. Some very nice "natural light" incandescence lights that show off the correct colors in your clothes
We had door specially made to match the other doors in the house and that would fit the special size of the opening.
We installed double rods on one closet.
We ordered special drawers, cabinets, shoe holders etc for the other closet.
